Empowering Green Logistics Upgrade in the Free Trade Port | Hainan’s First Fully Automated Light-Truck Battery Swap Station Officially Breaks Ground

(Haikou, December 18, 2025) Today, on the historic occasion of Hainan’s island-wide customs closure operation officially commencing, the "Hainan Smart Battery Swap Station Groundbreaking Ceremony," hosted by Xinyuan Yicheng Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xinyuan Yicheng"), was successfully held in Haikou City. As a key project implementing the national "Dual Carbon" strategy and supporting Hainan’s "Clean Energy Island" initiative, the groundbreaking marks the official launch of a new type of efficient, intelligent, and integrated green logistics energy replenishment infrastructure in Hainan, providing solid support for the growing demand for green logistics after the Free Trade Port’s customs closure.
Timely Emergence, Serving Hainan’s New Era of Customs Closure
The project’s groundbreaking on the first day of Hainan Free Trade Port’s island-wide customs closure operation holds profound strategic significance. Post-closure, a higher level of openness will impose new requirements on the efficiency, cleanliness, and intelligence of the logistics system. The construction of the first fully automated light-truck battery swap station represents a forward-looking initiative aligned with the Free Trade Port’s development goals of "zero-carbon logistics" and "smart transportation." It aims to directly serve key sectors in Hainan, such as fresh cold-chain logistics and commercial distribution, through innovative technological models, thereby facilitating green upgrades, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements in the logistics industry.
Collaborative Construction, Pooling Industry-Leading Expertise
The Hainan Smart Battery Swap Station is invested and built by Xinyuan Yicheng and constructed by China Energy Engineering Group Heilongjiang Energy Engineering Co., Ltd. The two parties plan to jointly invest in and build 500 integrated charging and swapping stations nationwide, with the first batch of 10 smart battery swap stations in Hainan Province commencing construction simultaneously. According to the plan, Xinyuan Yicheng will invest in the construction of 200 integrated charging and swapping stations in Hainan over the next five years. These stations will be distributed across cities and counties in Hainan, covering all scenarios such as urban distribution, cold-chain transportation, and waste collection, injecting strong momentum into Hainan’s efforts to build a green supply chain system and achieve the "2030 ban on fuel vehicle sales" target.
"As a key province in promoting the application of new energy vehicles nationwide, Hainan is accelerating the construction of a green mobility ecosystem. The green transformation of the logistics sector is a crucial step toward achieving the strategic goal of ‘full island adoption of new energy vehicles.’"

Its "Green Elephant Smart Swap" fully automated light-truck battery swap solution directly addresses the core challenges of urban logistics electrification, leading the industry with three key advantages:
- Ultra-Fast Energy Replenishment: The project utilizes GETEC’s eC5 battery-swappable smart chassis platform and fully automated swap stations, enabling a single battery swap in just 3.5 minutes. Its proprietary side-pull battery swap technology and adaptive RGV precision positioning achieve fully unmanned operations, elevating energy replenishment efficiency to new heights and eliminating range anxiety.
- Comprehensive Safety and Reliability: The solution encompasses an intelligent domain-controlled chassis, high-energy-density LFP batteries, and a smart station control system. The batteries feature patented self-contained structures and basket-type locking mechanisms, ensuring absolute safety during swapping. From vehicle operation and battery charging/swapping to station management, GETEC enables coordinated control and safety warnings across all domains through its self-developed VCU, BMS, and station control systems.
- Empowerment Through an Ecosystem Platform: GETEC’s “Green Elephant Smart Swap” is not merely a battery swap product but an open ecosystem platform. It aims to create an integrated green energy replenishment space combining "photovoltaic energy storage, charging, swapping, operation, maintenance, and exhibition." This project is a practical implementation of this vision. By integrating energy replenishment, vehicle operation and maintenance, commercial services, and other functional modules, it builds a sustainable, scalable, and mutually beneficial platform for logistics practitioners and ecosystem partners.
Looking Ahead, Building a New Green and Smart Logistics Ecosystem
The groundbreaking of Hainan’s first fully automated light-truck battery swap station marks a fresh starting point. It is not just the construction of a single energy replenishment point but a key step toward advancing the Free Trade Port’s logistics system toward the integrated evolution of "vehicles, stations, batteries, networks, and cloud platforms," powered by GETEC’s “Green Elephant Smart Swap” ecosystem technology. The project stakeholders expressed their commitment to leveraging this successful collaboration as an opportunity to deepen their strategic layout in Hainan.
In the future, more green battery swap spaces integrating clean energy and digital operations will gradually emerge, collectively weaving an intelligent, efficient, and zero-carbon logistics network serving the entire Hainan Free Trade Port. This will inject robust green momentum into Hainan’s transformation into a shining showcase of China’s "Dual Carbon" achievements and high-level openness.
